In English we have been reading the book – Song from Somewhere Else by A.F Harrold. We have completed a conscience alley to help the main character decide whether she should go do the stairs or not. We then wrote a letter to give to Frank, the main character, to advise her to go down the stairs or not. I am enjoying the book because it is adventurous and mysterious- you don’t know what is happening next. There is a weird song, and we have been playing that music, as we listen to the book, to help us understand what it feels like. (Charlotte)
In Maths y5s have been learning about fractions, decimals and percentages and converting between them. I have enjoyed this topic because it has helped me with my converting and now, I am feeling confident with it. The y6s have been converting measurements including time, mass and length. I am feeling good, but time is still tricky because it is 60 not 100- which is not the easiest number in the world to work with! (Elfie/Audrey)
In DT we are making creatures from old socks. I am really enjoying it. I am making a small little frog. Other people on my table are making a potato with jumpers and hats, a whale or just a weird creature! This is related to our WW2 topic- Make Do and Mend where people had to reuse old clothing such as socks and fabrics. (Nieve)
We have been learning about rationing in our History lessons. Rationing is when the people living through WW2 towards the end of the war had to save their food, so they didn’t run out. The shops had to raise their prices. They also had ration books with tickets in to show how much everyone could have. Children were allowed double the clothing tickets because they were growing but half the food tickets. We weighed out plasticine to see how much this looked like- we discovered that it wasn’t a lot of food compared to now! (Alice)
Indoor PE we have finished our Chinese New Year dance. There were three different motifs to help us choreograph it. I have enjoyed doing this because it is something different that we don’t normally do. I was pleased with our final dance. We got to perform to the y1/2 class- they seem to like it. ( Heather)
PSHE saw us reflecting on what neurodiversity to us. See photos!
