We’ve had an awesome term in Royal class we’ve had lots of laughs and had lots of fun doing new things!
In history, we have been learning about Tutankhamuns death and how Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamuns tomb. We went to an awesome Museum And learnt about Amelia Edwards And how she travelled around Egypt. it was very fun to find out what she did and where she went.
In English, we have been reading the king who banned the dark. We wrote a balanced argument to see if we should ban the dark or not. We also did roll on the wall about what the king might be feeling as he has banned the dark.
We have acted out when the king banned the dark and we have been writing our own version of the king who baned the dark.
In computing, we have been coding micro bits and we have made a rock paper scissors games. we have also coded the micro bits to do heads up. we made a digital hamster that when we press buttons it would make a different face.
In DT, we have made food from across the world. some people made pizza some made pizza pocket and two other groups made spag boll . we have learnt to cut food in different types of techniques. Such as dicing and slicing.
In French, we have been learning about different feelings and different school stationary such as pencils, rulers, rubbers, books and colouring pencils we learned how to say our names in French and also to say our age!
In maths, we have done mental addition, rounding and compensating by adding 999 we added 1000 and took one away at the end. we have been writing the sums out on the page in stages. Stage number one is adding 1000 stage number two is taking one away from so you can add 999.
In science, we have been using magnets and discovering which metals are magnetic and which ones are not magnetic. We also made a paper clip fly using attracting magnetic force. We also made a compass using a magnet. we have discovered that tinfoil isn’t magnetic and cobalt is magnetic. we have designed magnet games that use magnets. it is very fun to find out and very surprising!
We have been reading secrets of a sun King for the last half term we have really enjoyed reading secrets of a sun King everyone in Royal classes enjoyed it so much it was probably one of the best books we’ve read we have just finished reading it! It was very good! It is about a girl who goes to school at Saint kilda’s and then she travels to Egypt with her friend tulip and Oz to give back what wasn’t theirs…
In reading, we have read parts of stories and practised reading them fluently and then answered questions all about that part of the story.
Now in December our Handwriting is so much neater and our spelling is way better. we have come a long way since September with all our maths work science work history, English reading and French is great now . Way better than the start of the year.
Our classroom turned into a Winter Wonderland with two different types of Santas parkour Santa and chill Santa. We have a mini Christmas tree and paper Santa‘s hanging from tinsel and we have loads of tinsel hanging around our classroom . parkour Santa always walks around when we’re not looking so one minute it’s hanging off the board and the next minute It’s hanging off the Christmas tree .
Our favourite part of the term is probably going to the museum.
We have had an amazingly awesome time in Royal class!
