Outdoor Learning- KS1
This term during outdoor learning, the Year 1 and 2 children have been enjoying the vegetable garden (as well as the reception pupils). Year 1 were invited to pick the ripe strawberries which have been growing well. They thoroughly relished this activity and afterwards they were allowed to eat them. What a treat!
Year 2 planted out courgettes, pumpkins, tomatoes and cucumbers. There are also beans and sweetcorn growing and a variety of different herbs. The planters are very organised and neat. The volunteers have done a fantastic job – the entire area is a joy to spend time in.
Whilst the pupils were not planting or picking, they were building animals in small groups using natural materials. Importantly, one week staff talked to the children about how to be safe in the sun. The children know that in the hot weather they can play and work in the shade if they wish to.
