Sky class are having a busy time at the end of the Spring term!

We have been learning the Lindy Hop from WW2. The whole of year 5/6 have been doing this old dance. It is a very creative and interesting dance. You get very caught in the moment. It is very energetic, very fun and interesting. You can get very excited when you do it. It even feels like you’re in the war, doing the Lindy Hop! When you do it, it is like you are doing a show. – Jasmine and Rosie

We have been making adverts from the time of WW2. We based them off propaganda posters. First we planned out what we were going to do and say on google sheets and then we made our slides and because it was from WW2, we used an editing tool to make all the pictures grey (that was really fun). Then we recorded our voices to make our advert an actual advert. Mine went wrong quite a few times but we got it done. Mostly we recorded it in quiet spaces but sometimes there was background noise. Our class really enjoyed this topic – Phoebe and Ollie

We were learning about the Fresh Prince of Bel Air in music. It was one of the funnest music topics I have done in school. We were rapping and singing. I love singing and rapping. I normally boogie and dance. – Izzy

The whole class made a sock toy called a wabbit, then we made a second one and turned it into a creature. We used: lots of sewing skills that we practiced on our first wabbit, string, scissors and socks. We also had some parent helpers and teachers. Some of us put only legs on or arms on, but some people got quite creative and did arms and legs. We had a range of loads of different types of wabbits. We had loads of different colours. It was funny looking at other people’s. We also made them on Thursday but then we got to take them home the day we had actually made our creatures. – Theo

We had a visit from the author Jacqueline King. She came into cobalt and we learnt so much about her life and books: Lobster Blues and A Cake for the Gestapo. A Cake for the Gestapo is about four people in June 1940 who played tricks on the soldiers. They firedtheir slingshots at them and it was very funny. She gave us a toffee like children had in 1940. – Isaac
