Recreating a jungle tour:
Carrying on with our Amazon topic based around our book Journey to the River Sea, we have decided to create an Amazon rainforest boat tour where we showed off the amazing wonders of the tropics and the fun through role play. I enjoyed this experience because it felt like I was sharing the knowledge of the vast canopy with others around me.- Henry
Learning about the Amazon:
We created an animal fact file. It was fun to do because we got to learn about each animal and draw a picture. We got to write our fact files outside which was more fun than sitting inside. To choose our animal, there were fact sheets placed around the classroom. We learnt about the animals’ diet, habitat, and appearance. My animal was the Emerald Tree Boa. Did you know that the Emerald Tree Boa can live up to 20 years?- Will
Collages:
This term we made collages of animals. This was inspired by Peter Clark who made lots of collages of animals. We started with a simple design of a fish. First, we traced the fish on a piece of tracing paper. Secondly, after we traced it, we traced the fish on the other side. Then, we got a piece of patterned paper and pressed the fish on the patterned paper and drew on part of a fish and it left a mark. Finally, we cut out the patterned paper and stuck it on our original fish. We did this over again with each part until we had a whole fish.- Emerson
