In year 5 and 6 we built our own chinampas using nature around the field e.g sticks, rocks, leaves and soil.
In DT we made guacamole, salsa, tortillas and we drank Mayan hot chocolate. We also saw a real axolotl and also learnt how to make fire with flint and steal.
After we learnt about Tom’s Midnight Garden, we made our own graphic novels about a normal person in our world going through a portal back in time to meet the Mayans.
In art we’re doing printing to make our own colourful sunstones by making circles in foam and then rolling ink over the foam, then we put the ink covered foam on a piece of paper to make the perfect print.
