In groups, we made fighting vehicle robots to push each other off a sumo circle. We made them out of cardboard and paper. The expert, called John, gave us the electronics: a circuit, wires, a transmitter, a receiver and a remote control.
I really liked it. It was amazing making something that actually moved. My team came second – I can’t believe it!
There was a grand final between Lightning and Car Smasher. Lightning was the champion. The secret to their success was: they made thick wheels with a grippy tread made using the glue gun, it was heavy and it had a sloping front.
At the very end, John asked us who would like to be an engineer – lots of people put hands up see picture).
