Life has been very different this week because Year 6s have been doing SATS!
So for us Year 5s, in Maths we have been doing Roman numerals, for example I is 1, V =5, X =10. English has been really fun- we have been studying a poem called Dreamcatcher and have made one.  Our dream catchers look amazing!
Our new history topic is the Neolithic Stone Age to the Bronze Age. So far we went on a walk to Gatcombe park (Princess Ann’s property P.S. We got permission) to Avening and back again to school. It was about 6 miles! It was exciting – the walk included hiking through a forest looking at the LongStone and TingleStone. We talked about why they were there and what they could have been for. We even heard about some of the superstitions about them too. We went past Maddie’s  house and saw her dogs, chickens and deer. Once we had left Gatcombe park we headed for Avening and went into an Old Rectory garden. We saw a train, a Japanese bridge -plus there were more standing stones and bones.
Art has been interesting, the artist we have been studying is William Grill who is inspired by cave art. Outside on the field we tried it (cave art is really difficult). We used natural materials like charcoal, dandelions and leaves. See our photos for our final results!
In science we have discovered that Carl Linnaeus created a classification key which separated all living things and plants into their own different groups.
P.E. has been very tiring because we have been doing fitness circuits and tennis.
