Last week a large group of pupils from year 5/6 descended upon Stratford Leisure Centre for the Sport Hall Athletics Event. We do try to get involved in as many events as possible to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to engage in competitive sports. While we don’t believe competition between children should be given free reign in day to day life at school, it is so important that children experience competitive situations and learn to win and lose.
‘Last Wednesday a group of year 5/6 went to an athletic tournament. There was a variety of events including field events like vertical jump and triple jump and a big range of track events including relays, obstacle races and sprints. We really enjoyed it and got lots of opportunities. Although we did not come first, we came second and were still really pleased.’
