‘In Year 3/4 we learnt about fractions …we used playdough…we cut the playdough into pizza pieces and explored different fractions of a pizza with our cutting tools. The parts need to be equal to talk about fractions. We also talked in terms of fair shares when it came to equal parts- in other words if one person got more than another, that wouldn’t be fair and that is not how fractions work. I feel happy working like this because you get to have fun with the playdough but also it’s educational – it helped me to understand fractions better than I did before. I like educational playing.’
