Reception -Aqua Class and Midnight Class

Inspired by Hoctopize, a main character in our Toys in Space story, the children drew their own space creature and used interesting words to describe what they had drawn.
The film only has some of our pictures, more to follow by the end of this week. We hope you enjoy them!
On Friday, as well as our super class assembly, it was Sports Relief day and we all took part in a sponsored run around the field. Mrs Saeed was amazed at how fast some of us ran, and every one of us ran all the way round without stopping. Well done everyone! We raised lots of money for Sports Relief. Thank you for all of your generous donations.

Winter fun on Woodhenge on PhotoPeach
As the sun made a rare winter visit, we took the opportunity to have some fun climbing, balancing and travelling on woodhenge.
We have been working really hard to retell our class story and Mrs Saeed is very impressed with how well we are doing. We have also changed the ending of the story thinking about what other amazing ideas Big Bear could have to help Little Bear get to sleep. Here are a few of our ideas;
give Little Bear his special teddy bear, blanket, covers
take Little Bear for a walk in the woods
sing Little Bear a lullaby
read Little Bear his favourite story
use a gigantic torch, glowsticks, even bigger lantern to light up the cave
hang heart shaped fairy lights all around the cave

Well we are already at the end of week 5 and the children have settled amazingly well. They are able to find their way around the classroom and the school and new friendships are beginning to form.
We have had a busy start to the year. This term our topic is Me and My Bear and we have been learning to retell Goldilocks and the Three Bears using actions to help us to remember the important words. We have also been investigating porridge and drawing Goldilocks, making sure that she has a body as well as hands at the end of her arms and feet at the bottom of her legs.
This week in letters and sounds we have been learning g, o, c and k so that makes 12 sounds that we have now learnt in total. Some of us are now able to blend the sounds together to read the words. Very exciting!
In maths this week we have been counting everything! One of us counted 103 people in our plastic people pot. We have also been ordering numbers to 20 on our big number line and playing guess the missing number games.
Tomorrow we are going to perform our Goldilocks story to Midnight Class and our school Nursery so we hope we can remember it all! We will let you know how we get on!
