Wednesday

Today we have learnt the letter ‘t’ so we can now read the words sat, at and as! We played tennis, some of us made torches with junk, tents using our new den frames and others even made a terrific tank with the big plastic blocks. We are very impressed with the cooperative and creative play we are seeing from the children, both indoors and outdoors.

Don’t forget OUTDOOR LEARNING tomorrow. Please send children in to school wearing navy, grey or black leggings or joggers with the usual yellow polo shirt and blue sweatshirt on top. They will stay in them for the whole day so do not need their school trousers/dresses/skirts. They will be wearing wellies. Thank you for those that have already sent wellies in to stay in school. We do have spares for those that do not have any.

Letters and Sounds day 2

Our sound of the day today was ‘a’. We cut out paper apples, sang apple songs and sorted out s and a words from our sound sack. How many animals can you think of that begin with a? We would love to hear your ideas.

Mrs Bugg and Mrs Saeed are both extremely pleased at how well the children are retelling our Little Red Hen story.

I wonder what is in store for tomorrow!

Busy Monday

Today we started Letters and Sounds and began with the letter S. We found lots of things with the s phoneme in and Ned decided that Mr Moss had two s sounds “one in the middle m-i-s-ter and one at the end m-o-s.” We painted snakes and searched for the letter s around the school.

We also began our story retell which is The Little Red Hen. We will be retelling this story each day using actions. This is part of our Talk for Writing commitment. To find out more please click the link below.

The Bean Game

In PE we often warm up with The Bean Game. Can you think of any different beans we could use in our game?

Harvest

Thursday was Harvest Festival and we brought in lots of tins and packets of food for Stroud Food Bank. Thank you for your generous donations.

Yesterday we learnt more about Harvest and talked about Autumn, the season of fruits, nuts and berries. We then went on a fruit hunt around the school grounds and found blackberries, pears, apples, crab apples and medlars. We also saw runner beans and  sweetcorn growing in the vegetable beds.

First day full time!

Today we had a great first day of full time. In the morning Midnight class did PE in the hall whilst Aqua class put on their wellies and played outside in the rain! Lunch was yummy and all of us ate most of our food. Ben said “the mashed potato is delicious”. The apple sponge and custard was a particular hit.

Well done everyone and see you all tomorrow.

Great start!

What a super start we have had at school! Mrs Saeed and Mrs Bugg are so pleased with how well the children are settling down in their new classrooms.  They have all been finding their feet and feeling their way around the school.

We have particularly loved playing outdoors in our outdoor classroom.  Thanks to the PTA and other sponsors we now have a superb stage, sandpit and two den building structures.  Today we spent playtime out on the big playground for the first time and we also popped in to have a chat with Mr Moss in his office
