This week is book week and we are all looking forward to reading lots of fairy tales on Monday, bringing in and sharing our favourite books on Tuesday, immersing ourselves in poetry on Wednesday, reading picture books on Thursday and dressing up as fairy tale characters on Friday. Watch out here for any updates throughout the week!
This week we have been using 2publish to draw a bear and Mrs Saeed helped us to type what we wanted to say about the bears. We typed our own names though! Here is some of our work. We hope you like it!

In class we have been finding out lots of information about different types of real bears. We found out that Grizzly Bears have curved claws, Polar Bears have 42 teeth, Black Bears climb trees, Koala Bears are not true bears and the Sun Bear is the smallest species of bear. We all painted our favourite bear and here they are.

During outdoor learning we all found a piece of treasure. Here are a few of our finds.

To celebrate Eid in class we made Eid plaques, hand henna (mehndi) designs and designed our own prayer mats. In the afternoon we made orange, lemon, strawberry and mint flavoured sweets. They were very yummy and we shared them with Midnight class. We all tasted some rice with chicken that Mrs Saeed brought back from the Eid celebrations with her family. Most of us loved the rice and wanted seconds.
Once we were back in the classroom we thought about words to describe the grass. With our talk partners we came up with these words.
green
silver
wet
shimmering
shiny
yellowish brown
tickly
bursting like a volcano
cold
wavy
thin
rough
hard
circly
swishy swashy
long
tall
soft

smooth
This week we are starting our new story – We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and to get us immersed in the story we went out on the school field to find the long wavy grass. We looked closely at the grass and what else we might find hidden in the grass. We found slugs, snails, spider webs, dandelions, daisies and conkers. When we got back to the classroom we drew a long wavy grass picture.
