Red Nose Day 2017

We have had lots of fun today celebrating Red Nose Day in Nursery.  We held a big party with balloon games, lots of dancing, colouring and cutting out nose pictures, decorating gingerbread men and topped off by some yummy party food.  We also learnt about Haja and her family who live in Sierra Leone – she is 3 years old and used to live on a rubbish dump but thanks to money raised on Red Nose Day she now has a home and somewhere safe to play.  We talked about the importance of helping others less fortunate than ourselves and thought about some of the ways the money we raised today might help other people.

Underwater world

Over Half Term the Nursery role play area was transformed into a lovely underwater world complete with fish, nets, waves and seaweed …

.

Last week we were learning all about fish and other sea creatures.  This week we have been focusing on The Rainbow Fish and what it is like to be a good friend.  We have had lots of discussions about emotions and feelings, sharing, being kind and helping our friends.  We have re-told the story using lovely story stones …

We have made sea creatures and seaweed using our sparkly blue/green playdough and have played a fishing game where we used magnetic fishing rods to attract our little numbered fish.  We have also been creative and made our very own rainbow fish …

However, we did not forget pancake day on Tuesday …. we made pancakes to eat for snack and even held our own pancake races in the school hall!
