21stApril 2020

Dear Parents

I hope you are all keeping well.  Please find attached some more ideas of things to try at home – this time with a Spring theme.  Tapestry is being updated constantly and you will find videos of both myself and Mrs Hobbs reading stories on there.  Please do post pictures and updates – we miss all the children very much and it would be lovely to see some of the things they are getting up to.

Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care and stay safe.

With best wishes

Ideas for things to try at home….

SPRING

  • Use some broccoli dipped in pastel coloured paints to create blossom trees
  • Make a hotel for bugs in your garden
  • Go on a nature walk – you could make yourself some listening ears to take along – listen carefully for any environmental sounds (Phase 1 letters & sounds). What can you see?  What can you hear?  What do you think is making that noise?
  • Environmental sounds home learning challenge (download sounds challenge here)
  • Go on a scavenger hunt using all your senses (download scavenger hunt here)
  • Paint a picture of something you have seen on your walk or perhaps make a spring collage (using natural materials you have gathered on your walk)
  • Use paintbrushes and water to do some large scale painting outside
  • Make pictures on the pavement using coloured chalks – perhaps do a lovely rainbow
  • Playdough: why not try adding flower petals, rose water, food dye or some natural herbs to your playdough for a springtime experience
  • Have a number hunt in your garden
  • Celebrate Earth Day (22ndApril) (download Earth Day fun worksheet here)
  • Make an Earth Day decoration using salt dough. Use a knife or pen to draw the lines dividing land/sea

Have fun and stay safe.
