English<\/u> –<\/strong> Read!<\/u>\u00a0 Try to read a good story book for at least half an hour a day.\u00a0 Use your log-ins for Spelling Shed.\u00a0 Write a letter to Amnesty International<\/em> thanking them for their endorsement of the book \u2018The Journey\u2019 that we have been studying.\u00a0 Write a balanced argument around the topic of deforestation – is deforestation good or bad?<\/p>\n

Maths <\/u>–<\/strong> Use your log ins for MyMaths.<\/em>\u00a0 There are lessons, homework and games to be done.\u00a0 Practise areas we\u2019ve been studying, including: fractions, decimals and percentages; written and mental methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; place value; geometry.<\/p>\n

Also,<\/em> <\/strong>there are 10 minute revision activities in the \u2018SATs practise books\u2019.<\/em>\u00a0 These are topics \/ concepts taught from Year 3 up to Year 6.\u00a0 Your child could do one activity a day, starting from 1.2, then 2.2, then 3.2 etc.\u00a0 Go through the answers with them, discussing any mistakes that may arise.<\/p>\n

Times table torture – (practise multiplication square booklet sent home with children).<\/p>\n

Maths number skills practice (passports) – children should know what skills to be practising.<\/p>\n

Art <\/u>– <\/strong>Continue work on artist Peter Clark, and find out about other collage artists. Find out about their lives and work.\u00a0 Use your research to create your own collage\/s.<\/p>\n

Geography<\/u> –<\/strong> make a poster \/ fact file about rainforests – what you\u2019ve learnt so far.<\/p>\n

Deforestation – research for facts and figures globally.<\/p>\n

Dance<\/u> – <\/strong>create a Rainforest dance.\u00a0 Why not go on to Just Dance for ideas (and exercise!).<\/p>\n

Music<\/u>– <\/strong>create your own water \/ rainforest \/ storm composition using any instruments or body percussion you\u00a0 may have.\u00a0 Try to include crescendo (getting louder) and diminuendo (getting quieter).\u00a0 You could use your rain stick (see below).<\/p>\n

Music \/ DT<\/u> – <\/strong>make a rain stick using old plastic bottles and other materials you have available (remember the 4Rs).<\/p>\n

P4C – <\/u><\/strong>have a philosophical discussion.\u00a0 In the best communities, people plant trees in the shade of which they know they will never sit.\u00a0 Do you agree?\u00a0 Should refugees be allowed into other countries?<\/p>\n
