Last year I took my kids to The London Science Museum, and Nate was keen to see a display by a secondary school racing team. Â They were showing off their electric car, and I introduced myself to a member of Green Power, the company responsible for the cars and events. Â I asked if they made a primary school car, and they introduced me to The Goblin car!
The Goblin comes in kit form, and year six students learn how to build, race and maintain it as a team. Â During each year there are races against other schools with the exact same kit, including a national meet at Goodwood race circuit.
Through a very kind anonymous donation from a parent, and generous backing from the PTA , we bought our kit. Â We held a competition to name the team, and Grace Southgate won with her “Minchinhampton Moochanics” entry. Â
Plans are being made to completely charge the car using solar panels, to help further strengthen our green credentials. Â We are all excited about our first season as a team, and look forward to sharing our adventure with you on this blog!
